Cisco Systems Remote Laboratory

GCTL Cisco Remote Lab exercises provide instant
access to a live lab environment over the Internet, with exercises covering a
broad range of courses, products, and operating procedures. Going through the
exercises enables you to practice configuration, deployment, or troubleshooting
scenarios in a real-life environment on live equipment.
The exercises can be a supplement or added value to instructor-led classroom
training or an integral part of a virtual classroom, resulting in a global
learning solution available over the Internet anytime and anywhere. Upon
completion of each lab exercise, the built-in GCTL Cisco Remote Labs Assessment
Engine verifies your performance and the compliance of your solution with the
objectives of the exercise.
You can use GCTL Cisco Remote Labs exercises to improve your day-to-day skills
or to prepare for exams leading to various Cisco career certifications, such as
the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), the Cisco Certified Network
Professional (CCNP), the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP), the Cisco
Certified Internetworking Professional (CCIP) or the Cisco Certified
Internetworking Expert (CCIE) certifications.
The GCTL Cisco Remote Labs are focused on skills required by networking
professionals when deploying, troubleshooting, and operating complex data
networks. The lab topology of each individual exercise is carefully tailored to
the objectives of that very exercise, thus giving the students maximum exposure
to the usual deployment scenarios of various technologies or Cisco IOS features.
Wide Repertoire
Remote Lab exercises are classified into three categories:
Configuration exercises focus on individual technology features or Cisco IOS features and provide the student with hands-on configuration and monitoring experience of individual features. The student can choose to pursue a whole set of configuration exercises addressing a certain technology or select only those exercises that address the features deployed in the student’s particular network.
Troubleshooting exercises present the student with a non-working network, expose a problem, and require that the network be brought into an operational state. The student needs to find the design or configuration errors and fix them. The majority of troubleshooting exercises address configuration errors relevant to a single technology, while some of the more complex exercises contain a mixture of errors spanning different technologies.
Solutions deployment exercises present the student with a deployment scenario that needs to be configured in a remote lab. These exercises, usually somewhat longer, require the student to master a variety of technologies needed to deploy the given network design.
Rich Content
Each Remote Lab exercise includes the following sections:
-
Objectives, explaining the exercise goals and the skills gained upon successful completion
-
Command List, listing the Cisco IOS configuration and monitoring commands needed to complete the exercise
-
Detailed Instructions, providing step-by-step instructions on how to successfully complete the exercise
-
Verification Rules, providing guidelines on how to check whether the exercise has been successfully completed
-
Lab Topology, detailing the lab network infrastructure
-
Addressing and Routing, describing the IP addressing and routing pre-configured in the remote lab
Remote Labs Features and Benefits
Real Equipment
Remote Lab technology uses real Cisco hardware accessed over the Internet,
allowing you to perform real-world tasks in a safe and protected environment.
You get practical hands-on experience without investing in your own equipment or
putting your network at risk.
On-line Hints
You are not alone during the exercise. The Remote Lab system provides gradually
revealing hints - from simple suggestions, lists of applicable commands, usage
guidelines, or complete solutions, as you require.
Measurable Progress
Once you have completed the lab exercise, the Remote Lab Assessment Engine helps
you evaluate whether you have reached the exercise objectives and assesses the
knowledge or skills you have attained while performing the lab exercise.
Anytime, Anywhere Access
Remote Lab exercises can be accessed instantly – at your office or at home, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week – or you can reserve lab time in advance so you can
practice when you wish.
Duration
Remote lab exercises range in length from one hour (for simple configuration
exercises) to four hours (for complex troubleshooting or deployment exercises).
The exercises are performed on lab topologies containing between four and ten
routers.
